Prediction: Carolina Hurricanes VS Florida Panthers 2025-05-24
The Carolina Hurricanes are in a world of trouble, down 2-0 in the series and facing a daunting task of coming back against the dominant Florida Panthers. The Panthers have outscored the Hurricanes 10-2 in the first two games, and it's hard to see how Carolina can turn things around, especially with a backup goalie in Pyotr Kochetkov starting in place of Frederik Anderson.
But, as they say, desperation can be a powerful motivator, and the Hurricanes are going to come out swinging in Game 3. The SportsLine Projection Model agrees, predicting the Hurricanes to cover the puck line in over 70% of simulations.
My best bet for this game is the Under 5.5 goals. The Panthers' goalie Sergei Bobrovsky has been lights out, allowing two or fewer goals in five straight playoff games, and the Hurricanes' offense has been anemic. With the Under hitting in each of the Hurricanes' last two road games and in two of the last three home games for the Panthers, I like the chances of a low-scoring affair.
The odds for the Under 5.5 goals are around 1.8, which is a decent price considering the trends. So, if you're looking for a safe bet, take the Under 5.5 goals. But if you're feeling bold, take the Hurricanes to cover the puck line - they're due for a bounce-back game, and the desperation factor could play in their favor.
Just don't expect a miracle - the Panthers are still the better team, and they're going to come out on top in the series. But for one game, at least, the Hurricanes might just be able to keep it close.
